Havjin Jacob

Havjin Jacob serves as a Senior Advisor in the Research Section at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bergen. In this dual research and administrative role, Jacob manages PhD education processes, quality assurance for research education, and serves as secretary for key committees including the Program Committee for Research Education and Committee for Core Facilities.

Jacob's research focuses on identifying prognostic biomarkers for cancer outcomes, with particular expertise in colorectal and endometrial cancers. Their work spans molecular biology approaches (microRNA signatures), protein expression analysis (S100A4), radiomics (MRI-based features), and metabolomics. This multidisciplinary research program aims to translate laboratory findings into clinically applicable prognostic tools.

As a Researcher at UiB, Jacob maintains active affiliations with both Clinical Department 1 and Clinical Department 2, collaborating with researchers at Haukeland University Hospital. Their scholarly contributions from 2016-2021 demonstrate consistent productivity in high-impact oncology journals.

Jacob provides essential consulting services to Clinical Medicine departments and serves as the institutional contact for the NorDoc collaboration. They also contribute to academic development through supervisor training initiatives, creating e-learning courses and seminars to enhance research mentoring quality across the faculty.
