Hava Rachel Gordon is a Professor in the Department of Sociology & Criminology at the University of Denver, affiliated with the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Gender and Women's Studies Program. She previously served as Director of the Gender and Women's Studies Program (2012–2017) and Chair of the Sociology and Criminology Department (2017–2020).

Research Interests: Dr. Gordon’s work focuses on social inequalities (gender, race, class, age), social movements, education reform in neoliberal contexts, and qualitative methods. She authored We Fight to Win: Inequality and the Politics of Youth Activism (Rutgers UP) and This is Our School!: Race and Community Resistance to School Reform (NYU Press, 2023), the latter winning a major award.
Awards:
- 2023 Outstanding Book Award (American Educational Research Association)
Teaching & Service: Teaches courses on gender, globalization, youth studies, and qualitative methods. Leads a service-learning course on social movements. Active in professional organizations including the American Sociological Association and Sociologists for Women in Society.
