Haseeb Shabbir is a Professor and Reader in Voluntary Sector Management at Bayes Business School, City, University of London. He serves as the pathway lead for the MSc in Charity Marketing and Fundraising and is affiliated with the Charity Effectiveness Centre. His academic career began at the University of Leeds, where he earned his PhD in Charity Marketing (2001–2005), followed by an MSc in Marketing from the University of Huddersfield (2000–2001).
Dr. Shabbir’s research focuses on non-profit marketing, inclusive communications, and advertising ethics. He has held leadership roles, including departmental head for marketing at Hull University Business School and Course Lead for undergraduate marketing programs at Huddersfield Business School. His editorial roles include serving on the boards of the Journal of Philanthropy & Marketing and the Journal of Non-Profit and Public Sector Marketing.
His recent work examines poverty porn in humanitarian advertising, the impact of spokesperson characteristics on donor behavior, and ethical frameworks for marketing during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. Shabbir’s contributions extend to executive training, leadership in global marketing conferences, and promoting solidarity-driven marketing approaches.
Key achievements include co-chairing the 50th Academy of Marketing conference and leading the World Marketing Summit. His research has been published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Service Research, Public Management Review, and Journal of Business Ethics.
