Hasan Uludag

Dr. Hasan Uludag is a Professor at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering, with joint appointments at the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry and Faculty of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. Since 1993, he has led interdisciplinary research on biomaterials for experimental therapeutics, focusing on bone regeneration and anti-cancer therapies using RNA delivery systems.

Research Interests:

• Design of nano-engineered vesicles for siRNA/mRNA delivery
• Amphiphilic polymer synthesis for gene therapy
• Biomaterials in bone tissue engineering
• Drug delivery systems targeting aberrant proteins in cancer

Scientific Recognition:

• Fellow, International Union of Society of Biomaterials Science and Engineering

He has published >160 peer-reviewed articles and serves as lead editor for Frontiers in Biomaterials, while mentoring students like Aysha Ansari (PhD in leukemia therapy) and Yousef Nademi (PhD in nanoparticle-lipid membrane simulations). Recent collaborations include a WCHRI Innovation Grant for breast cancer gene therapy with Dr. Daniel Nisaker.
