Harriet Whiley

Harriet Whiley is a Professor in Environmental Health at Flinders University, affiliated with the College of Science and Engineering and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She serves as Deputy Director of the ARC Training Centre for Biofilm Research and Innovation and leads the Flinders Water Quality and Health Research Consortium. Her research focuses on infection control, biofilms, water quality, food safety, and public health, with an emphasis on mitigating pathogen risks in environmental systems.

• Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health Practice (Flinders University)
• Bachelor of Science (Honours, First Class) and Bachelor of Medical Science (Microbiology) (Flinders University)

Research Interests: Environmental microbiology, molecular biology, water reuse, biofilms, food policy, and opportunistic pathogens such as Legionella, Mycobacterium avium, and Campylobacter. Her work bridges academia and industry, addressing public health challenges through multidisciplinary collaboration.
