Harold Nigel Ramdass serves as a Lecturer in the Department of English at Baruch College’s Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, City University of New York. He holds a Ph.D. in English from Princeton University and a B.A. in English from Baruch College, CUNY.

His research centers on Medieval English Literature (particularly Chaucer and Shakespeare), Composition and Rhetoric, and Postcolonial Studies with emphasis on Indo-Caribbean communities, anti-Blackness, and colorism. Current projects include the book “Bong Coolie Calypsonians: Cultural Production in a Closet Community” examining Indo-Caribbean cultural identity, and scholarship on anti-racism in first-year composition classrooms.
He has received significant recognition including:
- Barbara Reich Gluck Teaching Excellence Award (Full Time Faculty, 2024)
- WSAS Excellence Award in Mentorship (2023) for pandemic-era faculty support and co-architecting the English department’s adjunct mentoring program
Ramdass actively contributes through service as Chair of the Weissman DEI Alliance, Composition Committee membership, and PSC-CUNY grant-funded research (2022-2023) on Indo-Caribbean cultural production. His mentorship extends to formal faculty development programs and informal student guidance.
