Hari Subramonyam is an Assistant Professor (Research) at Stanford University's Graduate School of Education with a courtesy appointment in Computer Science. He serves as the Ram and Vijay Shriram Faculty Fellow at Stanford's Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI) and is a core faculty member of Stanford HCI. Subramonyam earned his PhD in Information from the University of Michigan under advisor Eytan Adar.
His research focuses on the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Learning Sciences, specifically developing AI systems to augment human learning through cognitively informed design, co-design with educators, and transformative learning experiences. His work prioritizes ethical AI, responsible design practices, and human values in technology creation. Research spans generative AI for education, human-AI interaction paradigms, and accessible learning technologies.
