About
Hans Stroeher is a Full Professor (C4) of Experimental Physics at the University of Cologne since 1998 and Director of the Institut für Kernphysik (IKP-2) at Forschungszentrum Juelich since 1998. He previously held roles including Professor (C3) at the University of Mainz (1995–1998), Scientific Staff at the University of Giessen (1990–1995), and Scientific Assistant to Prof. Paul Kienle at GSI Darmstadt (1987–1990). His career began with a PostDoc at the University of Giessen under Prof. Volker Metag (1983–1987).
His research focuses on photonuclear reactions, meson photoproduction, hadronic reactions, symmetries in particle interactions, and the application of spin dynamics. He has received prestigious grants including two ERC Advanced Grants (2016, 2010) and honorary doctorates from institutions in Georgia (2010, 2014). His work has been recognized with a PhD Award from the University of Giessen in 1983.
Stroeher’s contributions bridge theoretical and experimental physics, particularly in understanding fundamental particle interactions. His grants and international collaborations reflect his leadership in nuclear and particle physics research.
