Hans M. Wyss

Hans M. Wyss is an Associate Professor in Microfluidics and Soft Matter at TU/e's Department of Mechanical Engineering. He leads a research group studying meso-scale materials such as colloids, emulsions, and hydrogels using microfluidics-based tools. His work explores mechanical properties, microgel dynamics, and phoretic forces, including groundbreaking insights into the 'exclusion-zone' effect. Wyss holds a PhD from ETH Zurich and a postdoc at Harvard. He collaborates with ICMS and international groups, and partners with FrieslandCampina and Wetsus. Current projects include indoor air quality monitoring (2023–2027). Courses taught include Experimental Soft Matter and Engineering Design. His research impacts UN SDGs related to health and innovation.
