Hans Hayden

Hans Hayden is a Professor at Stockholm University's Department of Culture and Aesthetics, affiliated with the Forum Modernism research group. He specializes in art history, focusing on historiography, interpretation theory, and modernity. His notable work includes the 2006 treatise *Modernism as Institution*, currently being translated into English.

Hayden earned his PhD from Uppsala University in 1997 with a dissertation on Gregor Paulsson and art historical interpretation. His research bridges modernism's institutional frameworks and critical examinations of its conceptual foundations.

He contributes to interdisciplinary discussions on modernism through Forum Modernism, exploring both mainstream and marginalized expressions of the movement.
