Hans Hausmann

Hans Hausmann is a Lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Communication at the Media University of Applied Sciences in Cologne. With over 30 years of experience as a writer, director, and cinematographer in film and television, he specializes in documentary film, TV journalism, visual and cinematic language, and cross-media strategies. His career spans roles at institutions such as the University of Applied Sciences Kiel, University of Siegen, and the Grimme Academy since 1996.

• Education: B.A. in Medien- und Eventmanagement; studies in Art History and Philosophy.

His research focuses on the intersection of documentary filmmaking, visual storytelling, and journalistic practices, informed by extensive work in crisis regions and diverse media formats. He has contributed to productions for BBC, ARD, WDR, and arte.
