Hannu Kalevi Riikonen is a Full Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Helsinki since 1997. He has held significant roles including Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts (Humanities) from 2007-2009 and chaired the Institute for Art Research (1998-2000).

Research Interests:
His scholarship focuses on the history of translations, Literary Modernism (notably Ezra Pound, James Joyce, and the Finnish Torchbearers Group), Greek and Roman literature, and the classical tradition in Nordic contexts. He also explores the history of learning and aesthetics in Finland, particularly the work of H.G. Porthan.
