Hannes Frykholm

Hannes Frykholm is a Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Sydney's School of Architecture Design & Planning. He holds a PhD from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, with a thesis on urban-architectural interfaces. His expertise spans interior urbanism, housing architecture, and free space design in high-density cities. Previously practicing architecture in Sweden for over a decade, he served as the Rothwell Chair Postdoctoral Associate (2021–2024) collaborating with Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal.

Education: MSc in Architecture (UC Berkeley and Lund University), PhD in Architecture (KTH). Research focuses on how residential buildings' free space addresses urban density challenges, with notable projects like 'Infrastructural Love' and studies on modernist towers.
