About
Dr. Hannah Uckelmann leads the Max-Eder junior research group focused on epigenetic regulation in cancer and therapeutic development. She is affiliated with Harvard Medical School as an instructor and has held postdoctoral roles at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). Her work bridges basic research and clinical translation, particularly in hematologic malignancies.
Education:
- PhD in Molecular Biosciences (2017), German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Heidelberg
- Master’s in Molecular Biosciences (2010), University of Heidelberg
Research Interests: Epigenetic mechanisms governing cancer self-renewal, targeted therapies for leukemias, and the role of NPM1 mutations in oncogenesis. Her lab investigates chromatin modifications and therapeutic interventions using Menin-MLL inhibitors to disrupt leukemic stem cells.
Awards:
- 2024 Max Eder Junior Research Group Award
- Multiple postdoctoral fellowships (King Trust, Mark Foundation, DFG)
- ASH Abstract Achievement Awards (2014, 2018)
Lab & Collaborations: The Uckelmann Lab explores novel therapeutic targets in AML, leveraging preclinical models to advance clinical trials for NPM1-mutant leukemia patients. Ongoing work focuses on chromatin dynamics and epigenetic drug mechanisms.
