Dr Hannah Platts is a Lecturer in Ancient History and Material Culture at the Department of History, Royal Holloway, University of London. Her research focuses on Roman domestic space, material culture, and multisensory experiences in ancient Rome.
She co-directs the Centre for the Study of the Body and Material Culture and serves as Secretary of the Isobel Thornley Fund, University of London. Her work includes leading projects like Sensations of Roman Life (AHRC-funded virtual reality reconstruction of a Roman town house) and collaborating with institutions such as Historic Royal Palaces and the Franklin Institute.
Key publications include her book Multisensory Living in Ancient Rome and the forthcoming Villas and Values: The Cultural and Competitive Lives of Rome’s Elites. Her research explores how digital technologies can enhance accessibility and understanding of historical sites for diverse audiences.
