Hannah Kosstrin is Associate Professor of Dance at The Ohio State University and Director of the Melton Center for Jewish Studies. Her research examines dance histories through lenses of Jewish diaspora, gender studies, and digital humanities.
Research foci include:
- Transnational Jewish dance migrations
- Labanotation and digital documentation
- Gender and queer theory in performance
- Cold War cultural exchanges
- Augmented reality applications for dance
She authored Honest Bodies: Revolutionary Modernism in the Dances of Anna Sokolow (Oxford, 2017), a Jordan Schnitzer Book Award finalist, and directs the NEH-funded KineScribe project. Her current book project Kinesthetic Peoplehood examines Jewish dance migrations between Israel and the US.
