Hannah Knox

Dr. Hannah Knox is the Max Gluckman Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester. Her research examines the intersection of digital technologies, climate governance, and urban infrastructure through anthropological frameworks.

Her current research explores:

• Data-driven climate action in urban environments
• Digital infrastructures and their social implications
• Energy transitions and societal change
• Anthropological approaches to technological futures

Professor Knox leads interdisciplinary projects investigating how digital technologies are reshaping environmental governance and political participation. She collaborates with the Energy Manchester and Digital Futures research institutes.
