Dr. Hannah Jeans is a Lecturer in Early Modern History at the University of York's Department of History, where she also serves as Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions Deputy Tutor. She completed her BA, MA, and PhD at the University of York, with research fellowships at Yale's Beinecke Library and UCLA's William Andrews Clark Memorial Library.
Her research examines gender dynamics in 17th-century literary history, particularly women's reading practices and the relationship between print culture and political developments during the English Civil War. Current projects investigate news consumption patterns among women in 17th-18th century England.
Dr. Jeans teaches courses on evidence methods, gender-politics-text relationships in early modern England, and women's history. She supervises postgraduate research on women in early modern print culture.
