Hannah Bateman is a Lecturer in Dance and Curriculum Lead for Dance Practices at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD). She holds an HND in Classical Ballet, Certificates in PR/Marketing and Business Management, and is completing an MA in Dance Teaching and Facilitating. Her expertise spans ballet technique, Pilates instruction (Garuda Method and Polestar), and holistic dancer well-being programs.
With 20 years as a professional dancer, she rose to Principal Soloist at Northern Ballet, performing globally in acclaimed productions like Jane Eyre, Casanova, and Ondine. Post-retirement, she founded The Ballet Retreat to foster adult ballet communities and produced digital projects such as EGO and Open House.
Her academic contributions include co-teaching initiatives, safeguarding training, and leading NSCD’s EEDI and LTQA committees. She emphasizes neurodiversity, decolonizing dance practices, and creative processes in education.
