Hannah Barnes is an Associate Professor of Art and Chair of the Department of Art at the University of Southern Maine. She holds an MFA from Rutgers University and a BFA from Maine College of Art. Her interdisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, and installation, focusing on abstract forms, pattern-based structures, and ritual-based processes. Barnes has exhibited work internationally, including at the Columbus Museum of Art, Dhoominal Gallery (Delhi), and Trestle Gallery (Brooklyn).

Her research explores themes of impermanence and fragmentation through material experimentation rooted in ritualistic drawing traditions. Recent residencies include MASS MoCA's Studio Program and the Vermont Studio Center.
