About
Hanif Haidari is a Senior Research Fellow in Nanomedicine at Flinders University's College of Medicine and Public Health and a Full Member of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. He holds an NHMRC Leadership Fellowship and is the recipient of a prestigious NHMRC Investigator Grant Fellowship (2025-2030). His research focuses on developing innovative nanomaterials for advanced drug delivery systems targeting drug-resistant bacterial infections and chronic wounds.
Dr. Haidari earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Science from the University of South Australia in 2021, following a Biomedical Research Honours degree (2017) and a Bachelor of Medical Science (2015), both also from the University of South Australia. His doctoral research focused on synthesizing metallic nanoparticles for combating drug-resistant bacterial infections, leading to the development of a smart hydrogel delivery system.
His research expertise spans antibacterial drug delivery, therapeutic formulations, smart therapeutics, wound diagnosis, and pre-clinical testing. Dr. Haidari's work integrates nanotechnology, chemistry, biology, and biomedical engineering to create next-generation solutions for chronic wounds and infectious diseases. His multidisciplinary approach has resulted in significant contributions to antimicrobial nanomaterials, including metallic nanoparticles (silver, cerium oxide, black phosphorus), smart hydrogels, microneedles, and responsive wound dressings.
Dr. Haidari's publication record shows consistent growth with 23 research outputs between 2017-2025, including articles in high-impact journals like Advanced Therapeutics, Applied Materials Today, and International Journal of Molecular Sciences. His work demonstrates a clear trajectory from foundational nanomaterial research to increasingly sophisticated clinical applications, with a particular focus on translating laboratory innovations into practical wound care solutions.
