Hanan Dover serves as a Lecturer in Islamic Psychology at Charles Sturt University's Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilisation. She developed and coordinates the Graduate Certificate in Islamic Psychology, teaching core courses including ISL401 Introduction to Islamic Psychology, ISL402 Islamic Psychology: Human Behaviour and Experience, and ISL403 Applied Islamic Psychology and Counselling.
Her educational background comprises a BSocSc, GradDipPsych, MPsych(Honours), and MForensicPsych. As an experienced Clinical and Forensic psychologist, her research integrates Islamic principles with evidence-based practice, focusing on trauma recovery, mood/anxiety disorders, sex therapy, chronic pain management, psychopathy assessment, deception detection, neurodevelopmental conditions, and behavioral interventions. She is a certified EMDR and neurofeedback practitioner with expertise in forensic psychological assessments for court proceedings.
Dover holds leadership roles as Vice President of the International Association of Muslim Psychologists, Convenor of the Psychology from an Islamic Perspective Interest Group (Australian Psychological Society), and founder of the Muslim Mental Health Professionals Network (Sydney). She maintains active membership in the Australian Psychological Society, College of Clinical Psychologists, and College of Forensic Psychologists, advancing culturally responsive mental health frameworks for Muslim communities.
