Hanadi Rifai

Hanadi Rifai is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Houston's Cullen College of Engineering. She directs the Environmental Engineering Graduate Program and leads research in groundwater transport modeling, natural attenuation, and urban water quality. Her pioneering BIOPLUME models revolutionized biodegradation modeling in contaminated sites.

Rifai develops TMDL frameworks for pathogens and dioxins in watersheds like the Houston Ship Channel. She maintains an active GIS laboratory and has advised regulatory agencies including EPA and TCEQ. Her teaching includes contaminant transport hydrology and hazardous waste management courses.
