Hamish MacGregor

Hamish MacGregor is a PhD Researcher at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care (PHPC) at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology (CCGE) since 2020. His research focuses on clonal haematopoiesis and cancer risk prediction using evolutionary modeling in population-scale datasets like UK Biobank.

His work examines the progression of somatic variant clones in blood across the human lifespan, including childhood, and disentangles the effects of clonal haematopoiesis from inherited germline variation in genes such as TP53. He is jointly supervised by Prof Douglas Easton (CCGE) and Dr Jamie Blundell (Early Cancer Institute).
