Dr. Hamish Foster is a Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of General Practice and Primary Care at the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on health and social inequalities, lifestyle behaviors, and big data analysis using UK Biobank and HUNT Databank. He is funded by the Medical Research Council and the Scottish Government, among others. His work includes developing digital tools to address socioeconomic deprivation and exploring prevention burden in healthcare.
Education: MBBS from Barts and the London School of Medicine (2007), BSc in Neuroscience (2006), MRCSEd (2010), Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (2013). Worked in rural Uganda (2013-2014) before joining Glasgow's GPPC in 2015.
Research interests include mixed methods (systematic reviews, qualitative studies), epidemiology, and Normalisation Process Theory. His recent grants include projects on prevention burden theory and healthy living tools for deprived communities.
