Hamilton Elkins is an Associate Professor at the Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan, where he has been since 2016. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Accounting) from Texas Tech University, alongside an MSc.M. and B.Sc. from Bridgewater State University. His research focuses on the interplay between accounting standard setters, firms, auditors, and users, with a particular emphasis on international accounting practices. He teaches courses in Data Analytics for Accountants and has taught Managerial Accounting at multiple institutions.
Elkins' research explores how regulatory and standard-setting actions influence accounting information creation and use, particularly in cross-border contexts. His work has been published in journals such as Journal of Accounting and Public Policy and Journal of International Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation. Recent studies address global sustainability reporting standards and audit quality impacts in China.
Prior to academia, he worked in golf course and landscape construction project management. His teaching and research reflect a blend of practical industry experience with academic rigor.
