About
Dr. Hamed Amiri is a Researcher at Utrecht University's Faculty of Geosciences, Department of Structural geology & EM. His work focuses on fluid-rock interaction mechanisms and multi-scale imaging techniques, including X-ray tomography and synchrotron observations. He is part of the nanoEARTH ERC Starting Grant project (2019–2025), which investigates nanoscale transport phenomena in geological materials. His research integrates experimental, observational, and computational methods to redefine fluid-driven mineral transformation processes.
- PhD project: Simulating reactive fluid flow using deep-learning image processing tools.
- Key collaborators: Dr. Oliver Plümper and Dr. Alireza Chogani.
His expertise spans nanoscale experiments, in operando observations, and molecular-to-continuum-scale modeling. The nanoEARTH project aims to quantify how fluid-rock reactions self-generate transport mechanisms, impacting CO₂ sequestration, mineral deposit formation, and tectonic stability.
