Halina Taras

Dr hab. Halina Taras is a full-time Professor at the Institute of Archaeology, Faculty of History and Archaeology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland. Her research focuses on the Bronze Age in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly the Strzyżów (Trzciniec) Culture and its chronological boundaries with the Lusatian Culture.

• Specializes in settlement and economic differentiation in prehistoric societies
• Investigates environmental constraints on early human habitation
• Active in legal protection of archaeological monuments

She conducts fieldwork at sites in Poland and Ukraine, including Tyszowce (Strzyżów culture cemeteries), Dubeczno (Strzyżów culture kurgan), and Nietyszyn (Ukrainian Strzyżów culture cemetery). Her work integrates AMS dating, taxonomy, and ancient DNA analysis.
