Halima Sofradžija

Halima Sofradžija is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo. She holds a PhD in Sociological Sciences (2010) and has extensive teaching experience in Political Sociology, Sociological Theories, and Media Sociology. Her research focuses on technoculture, digitalization, hyperpolitics, and social violence, with notable projects on technology's societal impact and media representation in networked societies. She has collaborated internationally with institutions like the Raoul Wallenberg Institute (Sweden) and Linneus University. Sofradžija is a co-author of influential books such as Hyperpolitics and Contemporary Society (2015) and contributes to the Sarajevo Journal of Social Issues as an editorial board member.

• Bachelor's in Philosophy and Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo
• Master's in Philosophical Sciences (thesis: Fear and Politics as a Problem for Social Science)
• PhD in Sociological Sciences (dissertation: Hyperpolitics and Contemporary Society - the Process of Technifying the World)

Research Interests: Her work examines the intersection of technology and society, including digital transformation, AI's societal role, and media's evolving cultural impact. She critiques modern hyperpolitics and explores ontological security in globalized contexts. Key themes include technosociality, networked societies, and the ethics of biotechnology.

Collaborations & Projects: Led interdisciplinary research on social risk perception (with UNICEF/Intersos) and co-authored studies on war violence narratives in Bosnia (2015). Conducted multi-year projects on social/political violence with Swedish universities. Guest lecturer at international institutions.

Labs/Teams: Active in the editorial board of Sarajevo Journal of Social Issues and contributes to academic networks studying media sociology and digital culture.
