Halim GÜL

Prof. Dr. Halim GÜL is a full-time Professor at Karabuk University, Faculty of Theology, Department of Basic Islamic Sciences since 2022, having previously served as Associate Professor from 2017-2022. He currently holds the position of Deputy Dean at Karabuk University since 2023 and has held various administrative roles including Department Head (2018-2020) and Chair of the Basic Islamic Sciences Department (2013-2018).

His academic journey began at Ankara University where he earned his BA in Theology (1986-1991), followed by a Master's degree in Fundamental Islamic Sciences (1991-1995), and ultimately a PhD in Sufism from the Institute of Social Sciences (1997-2003).

Prof. GÜL specializes in Sufism with particular focus on Halveti-Shabani order, Naqshbandi tradition, and classical Sufi literature. His research spans mystical concepts, Sufi economic thought, spiritual guidance, and the works of prominent Sufi figures including Sa'di Shirazi, Ahmad Yasawi, and Hasan Hilmi Dagistani. His scholarly contributions demonstrate deep engagement with both theoretical and practical aspects of Islamic mysticism.

His 15 most recent publications (2016-2024) reveal consistent scholarly output primarily in Turkish journals, with growing international recognition. The articles predominantly explore specific Sufi concepts, historical Sufi orders in Anatolia, and textual analysis of classical Sufi works. His research demonstrates particular interest in the Halveti-Shabani tradition in Safranbolu, Naqshbandi-Halidi thought, and the works of Dagestani Sufi masters.

Prof. GÜL has supervised six Master's students whose theses focus on prominent Sufi figures and their works, including studies on Şemsi Tebrizi, Ömer Tuğrul Inançer, and Sa'di-i Şirazi. His teaching portfolio is extensive, covering courses such as Sufism I & II, Quran Recitation and Tajwid, Mystical Interpretation of Nas, and Mesnevi Commentary across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.

He has served on editorial boards for journals including 'Journal of Human and Social Science Researches' and 'Academic Islamic Researches Journal,' demonstrating his active engagement in academic discourse.
