Haley Traini

Haley Traini serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Education and Agricultural Sciences within Oregon State University's College of Agricultural Sciences. She coordinates the Leadership Minor and co-directs the College of Agricultural Sciences & College of Forestry Leadership Academy, holding primary responsibilities in curriculum development and program administration for leadership education initiatives across campus.

Her academic credentials include a B.S. in Agricultural Sciences (2010) and M.S. in Agricultural Education (2014) from California State University, Chico, followed by a Ph.D. in Education with Agricultural Education specialization from Oregon State University (2019). Prior to her faculty appointment, she gained extensive practical experience teaching high school agriculture in California (2010-2015) and international agricultural education in Ghana through AgriCorps and the Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture (2015-2016).

Dr. Traini's research program centers on Leadership Education, International Agricultural Education, International Development, and School-Based Agricultural Education, with particular emphasis on demographic factors, self-efficacy constructs, and enrollment patterns within agricultural education systems. Her work consistently addresses equity considerations and program effectiveness in diverse educational settings.

Her publication record (2014-2019) demonstrates sustained focus on school-based agricultural education, examining national participation trends across ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic lines, as well as investigating psychological and structural factors influencing student engagement. This body of work provides critical insights for improving accessibility and outcomes in agricultural education programs nationwide.

Through her leadership roles in the Minor and Academy programs, Dr. Traini actively mentors undergraduate students while developing innovative curricula that integrate leadership theory with practical agricultural applications. She teaches diverse courses spanning leadership principles, agricultural sciences, and agricultural education methodology.

Dr. Traini maintains active involvement in the Leadership Academy team and Leadership Minor program administration, collaborating with faculty across the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry to cultivate leadership competencies among students through experiential learning opportunities and structured development pathways.
