Hakan Urey is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Koç University, where he has held academic roles since 2001. He previously served as a visiting professor at Cambridge University (UK) and Boğaziçi University (Turkey). He obtained his BS from Middle East Technical University (1992), and MS/PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology (1996–1997).
