Haim Avitsur

Haim Avitsur serves as Associate Professor of Trombone at the Hartt School and holds faculty positions at Manhattan School of Music (Classical Trombone) and Queens College (Adjunct Low Brass). An Israeli-American trombonist, he is celebrated for technical mastery and emotional depth across classical, contemporary, and world music repertoires.

His research focuses on trombone performance practice, contemporary repertoire expansion, and cross-cultural musical synthesis. Avitsur's artistic work emphasizes innovative interpretations that bridge traditional and modern styles, significantly advancing trombone's role in contemporary classical music.

As an educator, he founded the Summer Trombone Workshop (2005-2021) and mentors students across institutions. His collaborative work with the New York Brass Arts Trio redefines brass ensemble performance through string quartet-like sensitivity and genre-blending arrangements.
