Haim Abraham

Dr. Haim Abraham is a Lecturer in Law at the University of College London's Faculty of Laws, specializing in Tort Law and LGBTQ+ Rights. He holds visiting positions at the University of Toronto, Bar Ilan University, and Emory University. His academic journey includes a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) from the University of Toronto, an LLM from the University of Cambridge, and an LLB from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Prior to academia, he clerked at Israel’s State Attorney’s Office, focusing on state liability in defense operations.

Dr. Abraham’s research focuses on Tort Law, the philosophy of private law, and critical legal theories, with a particular emphasis on law and gender/sexuality. He is the author of Tort Liability in Warfare (Oxford University Press, 2024) and co-creator of the Civilian Harms Interactive Database. His work has been cited by the Israeli Supreme Court and recognized with the Best Research Impact by an Early Career Researcher award from the University of Essex.

In terms of grants, he has secured funding from the British Academy, Arts and Humanities Research Council, and others, totaling over £230,000. He also engages in media commentary, appearing in over 25 national and international outlets. His professional activities include expert witness work, consultancy, and mentoring.

Dr. Abraham leads or contributes to projects such as the Civilian Harms Interactive Database, which maps legal claims against state actors. His interdisciplinary approach bridges legal theory with practical implications in conflict zones and LGBTQ+ rights advocacy.
