Haian Zheng

Haian Zheng, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS). His academic roles include teaching courses such as Pharmaceutics I & II, Pharmaceutical and Analytical Techniques, and supervising thesis research. He holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from Shanghai Medical University, an M.S. in Chemistry from the University at Albany, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Connecticut.

His research focuses on Complex Drug Products (CDP), including Biologics, Botanical Drug Products (BDP), and Endocannabinoid System (ECS) mechanisms. Key projects explore drug delivery systems, regulatory science, and cannabinoid interactions with the blood-brain barrier. His work bridges molecular characterization, formulation design, and clinical efficacy to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Zheng has contributed to textbooks like Martin’s Physical Pharmacy and Shargel and Yu’s Applied Biopharmaceutics. His publications span drug stability, microemulsion formulations, and cannabinoid receptor biology. He actively engages in conferences discussing drug abuse pharmacology and regulatory science education.

His teaching emphasizes hands-on research experiences, including Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) and global health initiatives. He integrates computational modeling and innovative teaching methods into curricula to enhance student learning in pharmaceutical sciences.
