Hadiye ÜNSAL

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hadiye ÜNSAL is an Associate Professor in the Department of Tafsir at Ankara Social Sciences University's Faculty of Islamic Sciences. She received her bachelor's (2007), master's (2010), and doctoral (2014) degrees from Çukurova University's Faculty of Theology. Prior to joining Ankara Social Sciences University in February 2018, she served as a research assistant and faculty member at Çukurova University between 2009 and 2018. She has also conducted research at Frankfurt Goethe University and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Her research interests focus on the history of the Qur'an, nuzûl order, and the contents of the surahs of the Qur'an. She specializes in the chronology of the Qur'an and has worked extensively on addresses about Ahl al-Kitab (Christian and Jewish communities). Her scholarly work continues to explore the general emphasis of the surahs in the Qur'an within the context of nuzûl-sirah relationship, and she examines interpretations of the Qur'an in the late period Ottoman intellectuals.

Prof. Ünsal's publication record shows consistent scholarly output across multiple formats including books, book chapters, and journal articles. Her work demonstrates expertise in both classical and modern tafsir traditions, with particular attention to methodological issues in Qur'an translations and exegetical approaches to specific Qur'anic themes. Her publications reflect strong engagement with both Turkish and international academic communities.

Prof. Ünsal teaches a comprehensive range of courses related to Qur'anic studies, including History of Tafsir, Methodology of Tafsir, Texts of Tafsir, Main Themes of the Qur'an, Classical Tafsir Texts, Early Tafsir Texts, The Relationship Between Sīra and Revelation Context, Exegetical Approaches to Women-Related Verses in the Qur'an, and Methodological Issues in Qur'an Translations. She has supervised master's theses and continues to mentor students in the field of Islamic sciences.
