Hacene Boukari

Hacene Boukari is a Professor in the Division of Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science at Delaware State University. He serves as Director of the OSCAR Imaging Facility, Associate Director of the NASA-DESG Consortium, and Principal Investigator (PI) for the NIH DE-INBRE and URISE programs. His research focuses on Soft Matter Physics, Biophysics, and applications of Machine Learning in STEM disciplines.

Education: PhD in Chemical Physics (University of Maryland, 1992), M.Sc. in Chemical Physics (University of Maryland, 1986), and Diplome d’Etudes Superieures (Université d’Annaba, 1983).

Research Interests: Biotransport phenomena, phase transitions, optical scattering techniques (light/X-ray/neutron), and imaging. Recent work includes studies on HIV virus motility in cervical mucus and nanoscale hydrodynamics of tubulin rings.

Grants & Leadership: Leads NIH-funded programs and collaborates on interdisciplinary projects involving optical imaging and biophysical systems. His research spans optical physics, nanotechnology, and computational modeling.

Labs & Facilities: Directs the OSCAR Imaging Facility, advancing imaging and spectroscopic techniques for biological and materials science applications.
