Habibeh Rahim

Habibeh Rahim is an Associate Professor of Theology and Religious Studies at St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, St. John's University. She holds a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University (1989), an A.M. from Harvard (1982), an M.T.S. in History of Religion from Harvard Divinity School (1980), and a B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Toronto (1978).

Her research focuses on Islamic imagery in classical and modern poetry, interfaith dialogue, and socio-cultural aspects of religious transference. Key presentations include talks on Ali bin Abi Talib’s portrayal in Muslim culture, Muslim perspectives on Kant and human rights, and challenges in belief transference across regions. She actively contributes to academic societies like the American Academy of Religion and Middle-East Studies Association.

Rahim teaches courses on world religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and religious mysticism. She has organized panels on Islamic studies and interfaith dialogue at academic conferences. Her work bridges Eastern and Western theological perspectives, emphasizing comparative religious analysis.
