H.H.J. Das

Prof. H.H.J. Das serves as Professor and Director at the Centre for Language Studies (CLS) within Radboud University's Faculty of Arts, concurrently holding a Board of Directors position for the Faculty of Arts (FoA). Her research investigates how communication in media, policy, and interpersonal contexts drives behavioral change in critical health domains including vaccination compliance, cancer screening adherence, and management of medically unexplained symptoms.

Specializing in persuasive communication mechanisms, she examines intersections of media effects, risk perception, and public health interventions through funded projects like SENTICES (social media analysis for cancer screening) and NWO studies on terror management theory in entertainment. Her work emphasizes gender differences in clinical communication and linguistic patterns during GP consultations, particularly for patients with medically unexplained symptoms or transgender healthcare needs.

Prof. Das contributes to national health policy as a member of the Netherlands Health Council since 2019, applying communication science to real-world public health challenges through both theoretical frameworks and applied interventions.
