Gwen Strand

Gwen Strand is an Instructor in the Biology Department at Luther College. She teaches courses in Microbiology, Genetics, and Cancer Biology, including Paideia 111. Her role includes coordinating clinical laboratory science, cytotechnology, and nuclear medicine technology programs, and managing the department’s social media.

Research interests focus on cancer mechanisms (e.g., HPV-induced carcinogenesis and tumor suppressor pathways) and microbiology, particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa type III secretion systems. Her work bridges molecular biology, cell biology, and clinical applications.

Publications span microbiology and oncology, exploring topics like tumor suppressor genes, bacterial pathogenesis, and signaling pathways in cancer. She actively engages in interdisciplinary research, linking basic science to clinical relevance.

As a coordinator for clinical programs and social media manager, she bridges academic research with practical training and public engagement.
