Guy S. Goodwin-Gill is a Professor of Law at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law. He holds Emeritus Fellow status at All Souls College, Oxford, and is an Emeritus Professor of International Refugee Law. His affiliations include All Souls College, Oxford’s Refugee Studies Centre, and Blackstone Chambers (London), where he practised as a Barrister specializing in public international law, human rights, and refugee law. He has represented UNHCR in high-profile cases and contributed to the International Court of Justice and European Court of Human Rights.
Research interests focus on public international law, human rights, refugee protection, migrants, children’s rights, and statelessness. He leads research groups in Human Rights Law and Public International Law at UNSW. Notable publications include the International Journal of Refugee Law (co-founded) and work on child soldiers and elections.
Recipient of the 2020 Stefan A. Riesenfeld Memorial Award for contributions to international refugee law. His work spans legal advisory roles at UNHCR, leadership in Refugee & Migrant Justice, and the Media Appeals Board of Kosovo. Collaborates on the fourth edition of The Refugee in International Law with Jane McAdam and Emma Dunlop.
