Guy Gardner

Guy Gardner is an Associate Professor at the University of Calgary's School of Architecture Planning and Landscape (SAPL), where he bridges practical craftsmanship with academic research in digital fabrication and architectural design. His work emphasizes making architecture accessible through innovative technologies and community engagement. He currently serves as Director of Fabrication at the Laboratory for Integrative Design, a facility he helped establish at the university to explore digital fabrication applications.

His research interests include circular materiality, additive manufacturing, architectural robotics, digital design, and critical making. Gardner advocates for localized manufacturing solutions to empower communities through customizable design, drawing on his background in the trades and his commitment to societal relevance.

Gardner has developed courses focused on architectural robotics and has contributed to integrating hands-on experience with theoretical knowledge. His professional journey reflects a dedication to advancing technology-driven architecture while maintaining ethical and sustainable practices.
