Guruswami Ravichandran

Guruswami Ravichandran is a John E. Goode, Jr. Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He has served as Director of the Graduate Aerospace Laboratories (2009-15), Division Chair (2015-21), and held the Booth Leadership Chair (2015-21). His research spans multiple scales and disciplines within materials mechanics.

Recent publications highlight experimental mechanics techniques like digital image correlation for high-strain rate analysis and studies on stress chain topology in active materials. His work bridges geomechanics, metallurgy, and biophysics through multiscale investigations.
