Guoan Zheng

Guoan Zheng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Connecticut. He leads the Smart Imaging Laboratory, which develops advanced imaging and sensing tools for applications in biology, medicine, and metrology. His research focuses on computational microscopy techniques, including the groundbreaking development of Fourier ptychography—a method now widely adopted globally and featured in standard optics textbooks.

Research Interests: The laboratory's current work spans multiple cutting-edge areas:

• Ptychographic endoscopy for internal imaging
• High-throughput microscopy and screening systems
• Super-resolution imaging beyond diffraction limits
• Lensless coded ptychographic microscopy
• Optical physiology for biological studies
• Label-free imaging techniques
