Prof. Gunter Kullmer is a Professor in the Department of Applied Mechanics at the University of Paderborn, affiliated with the College of Engineering. He serves as Head of the Department and is a Member of the Transregional Collaborative Research Centre 285 (Teilprojekt B04). Previously, he led the Direct Manufacturing Research Center (DMRC) until 2022, focusing on Metal Laser Melting. His research emphasizes Sustainable Materials, Processes and Products, with a focus on fracture mechanics, material durability, and adhesive joint analysis. He teaches courses such as Technical Mechanics, Structural Analysis, and Numerical Methods in Product Development.
Key research contributions include advancements in fatigue crack growth modeling, fracture mechanics under multiaxial stress conditions, and investigations into dual-phase steel behavior under thermal stress. His publications reflect expertise in materials science and engineering, addressing both theoretical and applied challenges in structural integrity and material performance.
