Gunnar Hoppe (192?–2005) was a Professor of Physical Geography at Stockholm University (1955–1980) and served as Vice-Chancellor of the university (1974–1978). He was a prominent figure in geomorphology, pioneering the use of aerial photographs for environmental and geographical analysis. His academic leadership roles included membership in the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (1981–1991).
