About
Prof. Dr. Gunnar Bali is Professor of Theoretical Physics at Universität Regensburg's Faculty of Physics, specializing in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) research using Lattice Gauge Theory methods. His work investigates quark confinement, chiral symmetry breaking, and hadron structure through large-scale computational simulations.
Research focuses on nucleon structure determinations including sigma terms, axial charges, and parton distributions. Recent publications establish precision measurements of meson properties and develop workflow provenance systems for lattice calculations. Dr. Bali also serves as Adjunct Faculty at Tata Institute for Fundamental Research, Mumbai.
Honors include:
- DFG Heisenberg Fellowship
- Marie Curie Fellowship
- PPARC Advanced Fellowship
Professional activities include coordination of the EU Initial Training Network STRONGnet, membership in DFG SFB/TR55 Hadron Physics collaboration, and convenorship of the Quarkonium Working Group. Research consistently advances computational methods for high-energy physics simulations.
