Guluma Gemeda

Dr. Guluma Gemeda is an Associate Professor of Africana Studies at the University of Michigan-Flint. His research focuses on Northeast African social/economic history, particularly Ethiopian land systems and agricultural communities. He also studies the Sea Islands of South Carolina's historical contexts.

• Ph.D.: Michigan State University

Research interests include coffee's socio-political role in Ethiopia, land tenure systems, and transnational historical comparisons. He has conducted archival research in Ethiopia, UK, and US. Currently completing a coffee history manuscript.
