Guillem Colom-Montero

Dr. Guillem Colom-Montero serves as Senior Lecturer in Hispanic Studies at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, University of Glasgow, where he joined in July 2019 after holding academic positions at the University of Exeter (2017-2019), University of Birmingham (2016-2017), and Bangor University (2010-2017).

His educational background includes a BA in English Studies from the University of the Balearic Islands (2009) and PhD in Hispanic Studies from Bangor University (2016).

He has developed significant expertise in analyzing tourism as cultural trauma, particularly in Mediterranean destinations.

His publication record reveals consistent thematic focus on tourism's sociocultural impacts, with recent expansion to European destinations beyond Spain. His work spans literary criticism, cultural analysis, and interdisciplinary studies connecting tourism with identity politics, environmental concerns, and community resilience.
