Gu Qiangshuai

Qiangshuai Gu is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He is also affiliated with the Institute of Frontier and Interdisciplinary Sciences and the Grubbs Institute at SUSTech. His career includes postdoctoral work at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and roles as a visiting scholar at SUSTech.

• BSc in Chemistry from the University of Science and Technology of China (2008)
• PhD in Organic Synthesis from the University of Hong Kong (2014)

Research Interests:
His work focuses on asymmetric catalysis, synthesis of bioactive molecules, and carbohydrate chemistry. Key areas include organic synthetic methodologies, total synthesis of natural products, biological characterization of small molecules, structure-activity relationship studies, and mechanistic investigations using chemical biology tools. He aims to discover potential leads for drug development through these efforts.

Publications:
He has contributed to over 70 research papers, with 32 as first or corresponding author in high-impact journals such as Nature Chemistry, Nature Catalysis, JACS, and Angewandte Chemie. His work has significantly advanced asymmetric total synthesis and asymmetric catalysis.
